Santa Cruz County Chiropractor, Dr. Amy Rubio

I was a skeptic,” admits Dr. Amy Rubio. An appointment was made for me to see a local chiropractor for a neck pain I was experiencing almost daily after an injury from the gym. I was reluctant but was tired of the headaches and pain.

“It was incredible,” continues Dr. Rubio. “I’ll never forget that first adjustment. It was as if a huge weight was suddenly lifted from my shoulders. I didn't have to take any medications and was out of pain! That’s when I decided I wanted to be a chiropractor.”

Dr. Rubio began her pre-chiropractic education at Cabrillo College and Patten University where she received her B.A. degree and studied the basic sciences such as inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, biology, along with basic physiology and anatomy courses.

After completing her study there, she was accepted at Palmer College of Chiropractic West in Santa Clara, CA. During her four years at Palmer, courses included biochemistry, a major emphasis on anatomy and human physiology, X-ray, diagnosis, chiropractic adjusting techniques and patient care in the Palmer College Public Clinic. After graduating in 2006, Dr. Rubio returned to her home town in the Santa Cruz area to establish her practice.

“We love skeptics,” smiles Dr. Rubio. “I still remember the concerns and apprehension I had when I went to the chiropractor for the first time. So we make it a point to explain everything in advance, answer questions and attempt to over communicate. Patients appreciate that.

In our practice our desire is to help achieve a healthy lifestyle for the entire Santa Cruz County and beyond. We do this through a health program for the infants continuing through the geriatric patients. We do this with adjustments, exercise, and nutrition counseling.

"Outside of my practice, I enjoy being a wife and mom. I enjoy spending my time with family, friends, exercising, attending our local church, and actively keeping up with our two boys."

If you were to live to 100 years or longer, how would you ensure that at the age of 100 you were living a pain free, happy, and vigorous lifestyle?

"Enough about me! How can we help you with today's safe and natural chiropractic care? Give us a call so we can help you take your first step towards better health."

“Thank you for visiting our site. I hope it can be a source of hope and healing. If you have any questions, please call me or click on the Email the Doctor button at the bottom of every page.”

How long does it take to form a bone spur?
Many who begin chiropractic care think their problem happened "last week when you bent over funny." But pictures of the spine tell a different story. Chiropractors know it can take your body years to deposit the calcium necessary to form a bone spur. It's your body's response to stress due to gravity or joint malfunction. And chiropractic care can help.
How do most people deal with vertebral subluxation complexes?
First, they try to ignore them. When they don't, they go to the medicine cabinet to stop their brain from feeling the symptom. Later, back surgery may be threatened. Sadly, it's not until this later stage that they consult our Santa Cruz County chiropractic office. Yet, even with the delay, most are delighted by the results produced by today's chiropractic care.
